- VERSION 2.6 - 2.61 BUG FIXES
-
- * Fixed bug which occurred when File - Backup command was used before
- File Save or File Save As commands. i.e. when no file name was established.
- * Fixed file sort problem with new collating sequence and merge command.
- All old files are sorted on loading.
- * Fixed Next button bug on Phones page.
- * Fixed CMark bug. Turning CMark off with Display CMark Only checked lost current
- card underline.
- * Fixed CMark bug. Ctrl+B with Display CMark Only checked did not go to previous
- visible entry.
- * Fixed a file open bug in selecting file types in file import and export commands.
- * Put in a work-around for InstallSHIELD bug which could overwrite newer a
- newer system DLL on reboot when that system DLL is locked at installation time.
- Stirling Technologies is working on an offical fix for this problem. Note that
- This problem only occurs when user ignores advice to shut down all applications
- before doing the installation.
- * Modified the setup program not to overwrite sample.car if it already exists. This
- fixes a potential problem where a user could destroy his data if he saved it
- in sample.car and then installed over an older version of PSA Cards in the
- same directory.
- * Put CARDS.GID in the Windows 95 distribution file so that uninstall can delete it.
- This is a file created by the Windows 95/NT 3.51 Help viewer.
- * The installation program now uses different names for PSA Cards Win 3.1 and Win 95
- versions when installing the Windows 95 version.
- * Fixed bug which caused an infinite loop when printing address books, and
- and entry was too large to fit on one page.
- * Fixed a bug which caused printed output to always go to the default printer
- regardless of the printer selected in the print setup dialog.
-
-
-
- ********************** INSTALLATION **********************
-
- If you install PSA Cards 2.61 over a previous version,
- be sure to use the install program. It installs new
- system DLL's from Microsoft in your windows\system
- directory.
-
- INSTALLING FROM A FLOPPY DISK
-
- Run the setup program, setup.exe, from the Program
- Manager, Start menu, or Explorer.
-
- INSTALLING FROM A DOWNLOADED ZIP FILE
-
- 1. Extract the program and help files by running
- pkunzip from the command prompt. The zip file should
- contain these ten files:
-
- _SETUP.DLL
- _SETUP.LIB
- DATA.Z
- DISK1.ID
- FILE_ID.DIZ
- README.TXT
- SETUP.EXE
- SETUP.INS
- SETUP.PKG
- UNINST.EXE
-
- 2. Run the setup program, setup.exe. It is best not to
- install the PSA Cards in the same directory that contains
- the unzipped downloaded files. You can delete this
- directory after the installation is finished. If you
- do this, be sure to backup your downloaded ZIP file
- before deleting it from your hard drive.
-
- SYSTEM LIBRARIES
-
- There are two system libraries (the DLL files) which
- will be copied to your system directory by the setup
- program. These are new files from Microsoft. This version
- of PSA Cards requires them. In some cases (especially with
- Windows 95) a newer version of one more DLL's may already
- be present in your system directory. In that case, these
- files will not be overwritten.
-
- If the setup program cannot replace an earlier version
- of a file because it is in use by another program, restart
- (reboot) you computer after the installation. When a file
- can't be replaced because it is locked by another application,
- the setup program writes a file called wininit.ini in the
- Windows directory. This file contains information on how to
- replace files as the system is started. Windows looks for
- this file on system startup.
-
- IF SETUP.EXE WON'T LOAD
-
- Occasionally, setup.exe will not load. This usually occurs
- when a previous InstallSHIELD installation has failed and
- left junk in your C:\TEMP directory.
-
- If this happens to you, use the Explorer to clean out
- your C:\TEMP directory. Then try the installation again. This
- is a problem with the Stirling Technology InstallSHIELD system.
- Hopefully they will provide a fix for this soon.
-
-
- UNINSTALL PROGRAM
-
- The install program implements an uninstall feature
- that will remove PSA Cards from your system. To access this
- program, click on Settings command in the Start Menu, then
- the Control Panel, and finally double click the Add/Remove
- Program icon.
-
- In Windows NT, double click the Uninstall icon in the
- PSA Cards program group. Be sure you want to uninstall
- PSA Cards before doing this. Once started in Windows NT,
- the program immediately proceeds to uninstall PSA Cards.
-
- If you have addded files to the PSA Cards directory,
- Uninstall will not delete the directory. Nor will it
- delete data files (other than sample.car) that you have
- created in the PSA Cards directory.
-
- IF YOU ARE CONVERTING FROM PSA CARDS FOR WINDOWS 3.1, READ THIS:
-
- When you install PSA Cards for Windows 3.1 on a computer running
- Windows 95, or when you install Windows 95 over Windows 3.1 with
- PSA Cards already installed, there will be a "PSA Cards" program
- folder on the Windows 95 Start menu. When you install PSA Cards
- for Windows 95/NT 3.51 on a computer running Windows 95, a program
- icon named "PSA Cards Win 32" will appear on the Start menu.
- Since the InstallSHIELD Windows 95 installation routine does
- not check for the presence of the old PSA Cards program folder
- from the Windows 3.1 version, you will need to remove it from the
- Start menu manually. To do this, right click on the Start menu,
- open the Programs folder, find the old PSA Cards program folder,
- and drag it to the Recycle Bin.
-
-
- LOADING A DATA FILE ON STARTUP
-
- The installation program sets up PSA Cards to automatically
- open the file "sample.car" each time you select the PSA Cards
- icon. If you want to open a different file on program startup
- in Wndows NT, use the Program manager "Properties" command to
- change the Command Line entry. The new data file name replaces
- "sample.car" after the program name (cards.exe). Be sure to
- leave a blank between the program name and the file name.
-
- If you are running Windows 95:
- 1. Right click Start button
- 2. Click "Explore"
- 3. Click on the "Programs" folder and look for the PSA Cards
- shortcut in the Contents pane. (click the words "Programs"
- then look in the right hand window pane)
- 4. Right click on PSA Cards shortcut.
- 5. Click "Properties"
- 6. Click "Shortcut" tab
- 7. Change "Target" line sample.car to the desired file.
-
- You can also start PSA Cards from the File Manager or
- Explorer by double clicking (or right click - Open) on
- any PSA Cards data file that has a .car file type.
-
- Another Windows 95 way of starting PSA Cards with a specific
- data file is to use the right mouse button to drag file's
- icon to the desktop. Then select "Create Shortcut(s) here"
- when the right mouse button menu is displayed.

-
- PAYMENT FROM OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES
-
- If you live outside the United States, the easiest way to
- register is via CompuServe (see above). If you don't have
- a CompuServe account, you can send payment in the form of
- an International Postal Money Order in US dollars, an
- American Express money order in US dollars, a check in
- US dollars drawn on a US bank, or cash. Your bank should
- be able to advise you on how to obtain a check drawn on
- a US bank. We regret that we are unable to accept personal
- checks drawn or foreign banks or EuroChecks.
-
- If you send cash, send US currency if at all possible.
- If you send payment in your local currency, use the
- exchange rate your bank is quoting and include an
- additional $3.00 (US) to cover our bank charges for
- currency conversion. It is amazing that in 1995, US
- banks are still in the 19th century when it comes to
- dealing with small payments from outside the US. I
- wouldnÆt be surprised to see the teller put on a
- green eye-shade and get out a quill pen before filling
- out the paper forms required to convert foreign currency
- to US dollars. If you send cash in the mail, it is at
- your risk. However, we have had a very high success
- rate with receiving cash sent via the postal service.
- If you want a higher degree of assurance when sending
- cash, use registered or certified mail.
-
- CREDIT CARD ORDERS ONLY
-
- You can register with Master Card, Visa, American Express, or
- Discover from Public Software Library (PsL) by calling 800-242-4775
- (from within the US) or +1 713-524-6394 (from outside the US) or by
- FAX to 713-524-6398 or by CompuServe e-mail to 71355,470. You
- can also mail credit card orders to PsL at, P.O.Box 35705, Houston,
- TX 77235-5705. If you want to print out a registration form that
- you can mail to PsL, see the Registration topic in the on-line Help.
- Public Software Library cannot accept credit card orders that are
- sent to PSA Software and then forwarded to them. If you want use
- your credit card, you must contact PsL directly.
-
- When you order from PsL, they will need the PSA Cards product
- number. It is 14333.
-
- THE ABOVE NUMBERS ARE FOR CREDIT CARD ORDERS ONLY. THE AUTHOR
- OF PSA CARDS CANNOT BE REACHED AT THESE NUMBERS.
-
- Any questions about the status of the shipment of the order, refunds,
- registration options, product details, technical support, volume discounts,
- dealer pricing, site licenses, non-credit card orders, etc., must be directed
- to PSA Software, 1319 Silk Oak Dr., Fort Collins, CO 80525-5597 or
- e-mail to billr@Linden.FortNet.org.
